On Wednesday May 25th 2016, an article was released concerning a threat to "shoot up the school" at the HASD STEM School.

The threat reportedly stated that the shooting would occur on Thursday May 26th 2016.

HASD administration and Police were aware of the threat, and sources state that the 10th grade STEM student who had made the threat was suspended for Thursday May 26th.

The original article can be found here:

The Hazleton Area PTA Council has contacted Superintendent Dr. Butler shortly after the original article was posted.

As per the PTA Council, Dr. Butler has stated that all security procedures and protocol were, and are being followed, and the appropriate people have been notified.

The PTA Council went on to state that "Notifying parents in a proactive manner would be a preferred addition to the 'procedures'."

More updates will be posted as they come in.
