Intoxicated Mother Arrested - Police Console Distraught Toddler

At approximately 1 pm, Hazleton City Police received a report of a female under the influence of drugs with a child in the bathroom of Wendy's on South Church Street.

Upon arriving, police received reports that the female and the child had left the area on foot along Juniper Street.

Police located the female along Walnut Street near the intersection of Wyoming Street.

The female was taken into custody, and identified as being on probation in Luzerne County.

The child, approximately 4 years of age, was consoled by officers until Children and Youth Services responded.

The female's name will not be released for the sake of the young child involved.
