DUI Suspected In Accident Which Damaged City Pole

At approximately 7:30pm on Friday 2/26/2016, Hazleton Police, Hazleton Fire Department, and EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the area of Church and 8th Streets.

The vehicle, described as a Ford Focus, was reportedly driving without headlights and driving eratically, nearly striking multiple vehicles.

The vehicle mounted the curb, colliding with a city light pole, sheering the pole off and uprooting the cement foundation of the pole.

Reports state that the male occupant attempted to flee initially, and was taken into custody by Hazleton Police.

EMS was not needed, and the male was transported by HPD to Lehigh Valley Hospital for a Blood Alcohol Content evaluation.
