Mayor Jeff Cusat - Innauguration Day

"I'd like to thank the people that believed in me and took the time to support and vote for me." Newly appointed Hazleton City Mayor Jeffrey Cusat begain with after being sworn in by Judge Correale Stevens.

Cusat was officially inaugurated on January 4th during the Hazleton City Council meeting.

After the meeting, Hazleton News 1 had the pleasure of briefly speaking with Mayor Cusat.

Cusat has this to share with the public:

"I'm proud to be elected and given the oppertunity to work with council. I hope we can all get together and move the city foreward. There's a lot of issues out there that need to be addressed as quick as possible."

He went on to address the recent budget veto by Mayor Yannuzzi:

"With the veto, the budget's going to delay us a little longer, but hopefully we can get that worked out and see where I'm allowed to spend the money. Until we can figure that out, to hire or fire is going to be up in the air for a little while yet."

Cusat has again expressed an urge to man the police station 24/7, with the possiblity of advertising for positions with the HPD in the near future. A non-emergency dispatcher in the police station has also been brought up.
