Couple Jailed After Resisting Arrest, Obstructing, And DUI


At approximately 3 am, West Hazleton Police observed a vehicle being driven in an eratic manner.

Upon conducting a traffic stop, a female identified as Nicole Villalobos, 27 of Hazleton, operating the vehicle refused to provide identification to officers.

West Hazleton Police state Villalobos attempted to close the vehicle's electric window on an officer's hand.

West Hazleton Police also state that a male identified as Edwin Zapata, 22 of Hazleton, became irate and rushed toward officers in an aggressive manner.

Police later learned that Zapata and Villalobos were a couple.

Both individuals were taken into custody. Villalobos was charged with Resisting Arrest, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Disorderly conduct, and numerous traffic violations. Zapata was charged with Obstructing Administration of Law or Goverment Functions, and Disorderly Conduct.

Both were transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for overnight arraignment.

Zapata recieved $3,000 unsecured bail. Villalobos remained in jail for lack of 10% of $5,000 bail.
