Unconfirmed Juvenile Fight Near Middle School - Day After Punishment On Middle School Is Lifted

In late December, the Hazleton Area School District cancled middle school events until January 6th due to "riot like" outbursts at games.

Citing fighting and menacing behavior from fans and students, the games were postponed to give the School Board a chance to meet and discuss the issues.

On January 7th, just one day after the "ban" on games, stemming primarily from an incident at the Hazleton Elementary Middle School, aka The Castle, a report came in of another incident involving youth.

In the area of Carson and 11th, one block from The Castle, a large group of juveniles was witnessed by a parent, with a fight believed to be occurring.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 pm, and was witnessed by a parent who contacted a Hazleton Area School District Police officer, who then notified Hazleton City Police due to jurisdictional reasons.

HPD arrived minutes later, and did not witness the fight, or the group of youths.
