One Dead After Vehicle Crashes Into Store

At approximately 1 pm, crews responded to a report of a vehicle that struck the side of Big Lots in West Hazleton on Tuesday.

State Police were first on scene, reporting a traumatic arrest had occured and that an individual was heavily entrapped in the vehicle.

EMS and West Hazleton Fire arrived shortly after but were unable to resuscitate the male.

The victim is described as a male in his 30's.

A county coroner arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown, with a medical issue or an intentional crash being possibilities.

Witnesses on scene state that the vehicle entered the lot and continued at a high rate of speed around the side of the building and directly into the building near a loading area.

State Police and West Hazleton Police are investigating the crash.
