Juvenile Shot In Christmas Shooting

At approximately 8:40 pm, Hazleton Police were dispatched to the area of Locust and 8th for a report of multiple shots fired.

Individuals in the area report hearing two shots, and then five more.

Upon arrival, police found a 17-year-old juvenile male injured.

Witnesses state that the male was shot in the back.

The male was transported via APTS to Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton, where he was taken to Giesinger Wyoming Valley via MedEvac.

Witnesses in the area state that an individual was seen picking up bullet casings in the area. This has not been confirmed by the Hazleton Police.

Lehigh Valley Hospital was initially notified about the possibility of a second victim. No word on a second victim has been released.

One vehicle and several residences are reported to have been damaged during the incicent.

Hazleton Police are asking that anyone with information concerning this incident contact HPD or 911.
