HASD Middle School Basketball Games Postponed Due To Fight

Reportedly, a fight had broken out at a game on Friday night at the Hazleton Elementary Middle School, aka The Castle.

The fight was reportedly between a former student who was attending the game and a current student in the district who had attented the game.

The student had suffered injuries that sent him to the hospital.

The school district had issued a release stating

"Superintendent Dr. Craig Butler has authorized a postponement of all middle school basketball games until January 6th, 2016. The reason for the postponement is due to unrest at some recent middle school events. This decision is precautionary as school officials will be meeting to discuss appropriate action steps for when games resume on January 6th."

This is also following a period where police had escored students from the high school after reported gang fights occurred on school property involving students and individuals who were not in the school district.
