Freeland Man Charged With Arson After Business Burns

David J. Barna Jr., 23, of Freeland has been charged in relation to the fire that burned Sorrento's Pizzeria and an adjoining apartment on Center and South Streets in Freeland earlier this morning.

Barna has been charged with:

F1 Arson-Danger Of Death Or Bodily Inj

F2 Arson Endangering Property-Reckless Endangerment of Inhabited Buildings

F3 Reckless Burning or Exploding - places property having value that exceeds $5000 or automobile, place

F3 Crim Misch/Dmg Prop Intent, Reckless, Or Neglig

The fire started in a nook where trash recepticles were kept, then quickly spread to the structure which held the pizzeria, a garage and a home. Two fire fighters suffered minor injuries when they fell through the ceiling of the garage area.

Barna stated that he was sorry to all the families.

Barna's bail is set at $25,000. He was lodgred at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of bail.
