Fire Damages Business And Home In Freeland

A fire that started in an alcove of Sorrento's Pizzeria at 462 Centre Street in Freeland has closed the pizza shop and uprooted one man from his home.
Just after 2 am, crews from Freeland, Foster Township, White Haven, Hazle Township, West Hazleton, and Valley Regional Fire along with EMS were dispatched for a report of a working structure fire.
The fire was initially observed in a nook in the building where trash receptacles were kept. The fire marshall is currently on scene investigating the fire.
Bill Barr, local fire photographer, captured images of fire fighters battling the fire.
Two fire fighters suffered minor injuries after falling through a garage ceiling. No other injuries were reported and no one was hospitalized due to the fire.
