Freeland Police Let Local Boy 'Shop With A Cop'

At 5pm on Thursday, Conor Harkin (Pictured above) was picked up by officer Mike Mizenko of the Freeland Police Department. (Also pictured above).

Conor, a 5th grade student at Freeland Elementary/Middle School, was chosen to Shop With A Cop.

Mrs. Brody and Mrs. Ledger of FEMS had helped Freeland Police pick a needy child to participate.

Conor was greeted by Chief Tony Harris, Mayor Ed Appleman, and Officer Michalesko.

Hazleton News 1 and WYLN were at the Freeland Police Station when Conor was brought in, and we have to say that he is one on the most well mannered and respectful young men that we have ever encountered.

"It makes me feel very happy and this is a huge honor. I really want to thank the people who helped me get picked." Conor said when asked how it felt to be chosen.

Conor said that he plans to buy Pokemon toys and video games while shopping with officer Mike Mizenko.

A brand new bike and helmet were also donated to Conor.

The Shop With A Cop event is funded entirely by money raised from the Freeland Car Cruise by officers on their personal time.

Officer Mizenko is also taking Conor to Wal-Mart on his personal time.

Conor and Officer Mizenko left the Freeland Police Department shortly after 5pm to begin their shopping.
