Butler Township Police Charge Keystone Job Corps. Student For Robbery, Assault


Butler Township Police charged one person following a robbery at the Keystone Job Corps. Center that placed another student in the hospital. Police arrested Emmanuel Giddings, 22 of Philadelphia, after an investigation into the robbery.

Police allege that around 12:30 pm Saturday afternoon, Giddings, a student at the Keystone Job Corps, and a juvenile student, forced a 19 year old student to open his dormitory room.

Once inside, they physically assaulted him and stole items from his pants pockets, including a debit card and headphones.

The victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton for treatment of facial injuries.

Giddings was charged with robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery - both felonies.

Giddings was also charged with misdemeanor charges of simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property.

He was arraigned Saturday evening by District Judge Kane and lodged at the Luzern county Correctional Facility for lack of $20,000 straight bail.

Police have identified the 16 year old juvenile co-conspirator. Charges against the juvenile will be filed in Luzerne County Juvenile Court.

The Keystone Job Corp., located just off of Route 309 in Butler Township has also seen arrests for a student with counterfeit money, and a student selling drugs on the campus.
