Keystone Job Corp Student Jailed For Counterfeit Money


Butler Township Police responded to the Keystone Job Corp. on Monday November 9th for a report of a disorderly male.

Keystone staff was reportedly in the process of conducting a locker search when a male identified as Avon Lamar Perkins pushed passed Keystone staff and took an item from the locker, concealing it on his person.

The item was determined to be a large sum of United States currency, which Perkins attempted to destroy after removing from the locker.

Further investigation revealed the currency to have been counterfeit. The United States Secret Service assisted Butler Township Police.

Butler Township Police charged Perkins with:

M2 Tamper With/Fabricate Physical Evidence

Perkins, 23 yeard old of Baltimore MD, was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail set by magistrate O'Donnell.

The Job Corp. is supported by taxpayer money to educate and train disadvantaged youth.

Multiple complaints have come in from parents and students about the Job Corp.

Being free housing and schooling, the Job Corp. can invite some unwanted individuals.

The Keystone Job Corp. located in Butler Township is located on Foothills Drive, just off of Route 309.

The students from this school frequently visit Hazleton's Laurel Mall and Wal-Mart.
