Monday November 2nd - Sunday November 8th - News Review


On Sunday November 8th, the following incidents are reported to have happened in the Hazleton area at these approximate times:

Midnight

Lehigh Valley Hospital

A stabbing victim has come into the ER.

Unknown on extent of injuries.

Victim and his brother are giving hospital staff a hard time.

HPD requested by the hospital.

3 am

Freeland police are currently conducting a vehicular chase. FPD attempted to conduct a traffic stop, resulting in the vehicle taking off. The vehicle fled on 940, then onto Stockton Mountain Road. From there, into a construction area where the vehicle became stuck and the driver fled on foot. Units from Freeland, Butler Township, Weatherly, White Haven, State Police, West Hazleton, and Hazleton City Police are in the area actively searching for a white male. Male has been spotted in the woods as of 3:02 am. Male is in custody as of 3:03 am.

4 am

We are investigating a possible shooting this morning in Ebervale. Reports state that State Police were heavily in the area early this morning, and forensics was investigating this afternoon. State Police has not commented on the situation.

3pm

St. John's Road in Drums Report of a large brush fire. Possibly endangering a structure. Valley Regional Fire responding.

4 pm

5th and Church Motor vehicle accident. Two vehicles involved. HFD and HPD on scene. One vehicle needing a tow.

6pm

Conyngham Drums Road in Sugarloaf Report of a one vehicle accident. Possible entrapment. Vehicle struck a tree. Ems, fire, and police on scene. Life flight requested

9pm

East Broad near U-Haul Gunshots possibly heard in the area. Two shots heard. HPD responding.

(Just before midnight) Just before midnight, West Hazleton Fire responded to Graham Packaging for an activated fire alarm.

Crews are now relocating to Dial, which is across a bridge that connects both buildings, believing that the alarm is on that side.

Update: No smoke or fire found in either building.Believed to be a faulty detector.

On Saturday November 7th, the following incidents are reported to have happened in the Hazleton area at these approximate times:

Noon

Church and Broad Streets

An erattic driver was seen and followed from McAdoo into Hazleton where police stopped him.

The driver was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital ffor a blood alcohol examination.

5 pm Locust and 15th

Report of 6 ATVS on Locust Street heading South.

HPD investigating.

ATV's and motorcycles seen again in the area of Poplar near 424.

One vehicle possibly broke down on Poplar and Juniper.

HPD searching for it.

6 pm

940 between Freeland and White Haven

Report of a motor vehicle accident.

Pickup truck collided with a passenger car from behind.

11 pm

Edge Rock and 4 Seasons Drive in Beech Mountain Report of a male victim of an ATV accident. Critical injuries. External and head trauma. Life flight taking off from Rittenhouse Plaza. *Life flight canceled. Patient suffering traumatic arrest. Transporting via ambulance to LVH.

On Friday November 6th, the following incidents are reported to have happened in the Hazleton area at these approximate times:

1 am

Old Turnpike Road in Drums near Drums Elementary Report of gunshots heard in the area. Butler Township Police responding. Butler Township has one male detained in the area of Old Turnpike Road and St. John's road after a traffic stop. West Hazleton and HPD assisting.

7 am West 15th Street

Report of a one vehicle accident.

Vehicle struck a pole.

Requiring a tow due to heavy front end damage.

Unknown on injuries.

Hazleton City Fire and EMS responding. 4 pm Church and Green

Report of a two car motor vehicle accident.

No injuries reported.

Fluids down.

Avoid the area.

Hazleton City Fire responding.

6 pm

Spruce and Laurel Report of a stop sign missing from the area. Reports that vehicles are speeding through the intersection. HPD is fairly sure there was never a stop sign at Spruce and Laurel.

7 pm

James and Diamond Avenue

Report of a motor vehicle accident involving a Jeep and a motorcycle.

Injuries involved.

HPD and EMS responded.

10 pm

309 and Diamond Ave, Motor vehicle accident involving a truck and car.

Car reported to have fled the scene. Unknown injuries. Vehicles blocking the road. Hazleton City Fire responding.

10 pm Lincoln and 1st Street

Report of a fight in progress.

Male on female.

Physically fighting.

Individuals screaming and punching vehicles.

An infant is reportedly present.

West Hazleton Butler, Sugarloaf, and State Police responding due to HPD being busy with another situation.

On Thursday November 5th, the following incidents are reported to have happened in the Hazleton area at these approximate times:

1 am

Webster Ave Report of a possible break in. Person believed to currently be inside of the basement of the home. The home owner previously had found a door to the home kicked in. West Hazleton, Butler Township, and Hazleton City Police are responding.

1 pm

500 block of North James Street Possible burglary in progress. Report of a male with a crow bar attempting to gain entrance to a home. HPD arrived, putting one in custody. West Hazleton providing backup.

1 pm

309 and Butler Drive in Butler Township Two car accident. No injuries reported. Vehicles blocking the roadway.

2 pm

East Diamond and Pardee Street Report of a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Hazleton City Fire, EMS, and HPD responding. HPD arrived first, requesting EMS to expedite their arrival.

4 pm

CVS on South Locust Report of a shoplifter. Male is being held by security. HPD responding.

4pm

Church Street 2 ATV'S and 1 dirt bike driving erratically. Cut off a responding police vehicle. Police not chasing, fearful of an accident ensuing due to their erratic behavior. Witnessed on Broad Street also. Heading East on Broad.

On Wednesday November 4th, the following incidents are reported to have happened in the Hazleton area at these approximate times:

Throughout the day

All over the city of Hazleton: Anonymous reports of a group of young adults on dirtbikes and ATV's have been popping up. Reports state that the vehicles were seen on 15th Street, Lincoln, McKinley, Alter, and 4th Streets among others. Police have been unable to witness the vehicles or find anyone who has seen them.

Report of an unresponsive male.

EMS responding.Male determined to be taking a nap...

4pm

600 block of Peace Street Report of a motor vehicle accident.

4pm

Report of a brush fire on Hillary Drive in Foster Township.

Foster Township Fearnots Responded and stopped the fire.

6pm

Dollar General on Diamond Ave Report of a possible heroin overdose in a vehicle in the parking lot. EMS and HPD responding.

On Tuesday November 3rd, the following incidents are reported to have happened in the Hazleton area at these approximate times:

1 pm

Interstate 81 South mile marker 138 in Kline Township

Report of a vehicle rollover.

Vehicle is an armored truck.

Driver confined.

Unknown injuries.

2 pm 309 near Mcdonalds

Report of a brush fire in the area.

Hazle Township Fire responding.

Unfounded.

3 pm

Broad and Mill Report of a male on female domestic in a vehicle. Male reported to have physically assaulted the female in the vehicle before fleeing on foot. Children are reported to have been in the vehicle. HPD in the area.

3 pm

Vine and Broad Street Report of a group of individuals drinking and harassing passersby. On Vine between Broad and Mine is a small park known as Tyrolean park. It hosts a few tables and benches, and is often an area of congregation for individuals to drink from bagged containers. HPD is in the area investigating.

4 pm

East Butler Drive (Freeland Mountain) Butler Township and Freeland Police have a vehicle pulled over, possibly related to a domestic assault.

7pm Puff & Pics West 15th StreetAn individual reports that their silver Chevy Cavalier was stolen from outside of the store.HPD responding.

9 pm

Jeff Cusat won the mayoral election.

On Monday November 2nd, the following incidents are reported to have happened in the Hazleton area at these approximate times:

2 am Approximately 12 gunshots were heard in the area of Monges and 3rd.Unknown if any injuries occurred or if any property was damaged.

7 am Lincoln and 23 StreetReport of a motor vehicle accident.Vehicle mounted a curb and struck a pole.Unknown on injuriesHazle Township Fire and EMS responding.

11 am

700 block of North James Street Hazleton City Fire is assisting a resident with flooding in a home caused by broken water pipes.

Noon

Wine and Spirits on West Broad Report of a shoplifter. Described as a tall, thin, black male with a black jacket. HPD investigating.

11 pm

Wyoming Street Individuals reportedly attempted to steal quads from a home. The thieves abandoned the vehicles in the alley when they were seen by the home owners. HPD responding.
