Video Of Fire Department Extraction On Thursday Afternoon Accident On Diamond Avenue


Just after 2:30pm on Thursday afternoon, Hazleton City Fire, APTS, and HPD responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the area of Diamond Avenue and Pardee Street.

A blue Dodge 1500 and a black Volkeswagon convertible collided on Diamond Avenue, leaving a trail of debris.

Both vehicles showed heavy damage, with both operators requiring hospitalization.

The operator of the Volkswagon became entrapped in the vehicle, requiring crews from Hazleton City Fire to extract her from the vehicle.

The female was flown via life flight to Wyoming Valley Geisinger while the male driver of the Dodge was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton.

Hazleton City Police have determined fault of the situation, but have not released the information to the public yet.

Witnesses state that the Volkswagon was attempting to make a left turn onto Diamond Avenue from Pardee Street when it was struck by the Dodge which was driving Westbound on Diamond Avenue.

The extent of injuries is currently unknown.

Diamond Avenue was closed in that area until just after 5pm.
