Two Injured, One Life Flighted After Accident With Entrapment Closes East Diamond Avenue

Just after 2:30pm on Thursday afternoon, Hazleton City Fire, APTS, and HPD responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the area of Diamond Avenue and Pardee Street.

A blue Dodge 1500 and a black Volkeswagon convertible collided on Diamond Avenue, leaving a trail of debris.

Both vehicles showed heavy damage, with both operators requiring hospitalization.

The operator of the Volkeswagon became entrapped in the vehicle, requiring crews from Hazleton City Fire to extract her from the vehicle.

One was flown via life flight to Wyoming Valley Geisinger while the other was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton. It is currently unknown which driver was taken to which location.

Hazleton City Police have determined fault of the situation, but have not released the information to the public yet.

The extent of injuries is currently unknown.

Diamond Avenue was closed in that area until just after 5pm.
