Hazleton Man Pleads Guilty To Groping 15-Year-Old

David Robert Caravella, 60 year old, of West 8th Street Hazleton, plead guilty on Monday to two counts of indecent assault.

Caravella reportedly groped a 15-year-old girl while she slept on his couch in December of 2014.

Caravella was charged on February 23rd 2015 with the following: M1 Corruption of Minors M1 Indecent Assault Person Unconscious M2 Ind Asslt Person Less 16 Yrs Age

The Corruption Of Minors charge has been dropped, with the two indecent assault charges being held for sentencing.

A criminal affidavit states that the teen awoke during the night to find Caravella rubbing her genital area, and Caravella trying to offer the girl a pillow when she awoke.

The affidavit also stated that Caravella proceeded to go into his bedroom and watch lesbian pornography, which the girl witnessed.

The girl also stated that Caravella had gotten under his covers and began grunting.

The girl left the apartment and was taken back to her mother's house by police.

Caravella's initial defense to the allegations was that he had tripped and fell onto the couch where the girl was sleeping, and any contact with the girl was accidental and that he "may have put his hand on the victim's leg".

Caravella's sentencing is scheduled for February 5th at 9am.

He will at minimum have to be evaluted by the state Sexual Offenders Assessment Board.
