Updates On Wal-Mart Shooter

Wilkes-Barre Township police ressponded to the area of Wal-Mart at approximately 12:35pm, for the report of a male in the parking lot with a rifle, firing shots into the air.

The weapon was described as an AK-47, however this is not confirmed yet.

Reports stated that the male who was wearing a black shirt, black pants, and a black baseball hat was standing on top of a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse, firing into the air.

Police first observed the male arguing with a female near the auto center of Wal-Mart.

Chuck E Cheese was initially contacted at approximately 12:37 to place the building on lockdown.

Wal-Mart is also confirmed to have been locked down during the incident.

Assumably upon seeing police presence, the male began to run behind Wal-Mart towards the rear of the store. The male fired multiple shots towards officers as they chased the male.

The male was shot by officers at approximately 12:41, prompting officers to request EMS to the scene. Police have initially confirmed that the male was the only individual to have been struck by gunfire.

The male was hospitalized, and his condition is currently unknown.
