Xtacy Hookah Lounge Doors Shut For Good

Just before 1pm today, Diamond Avenue was closed to traffic between Wyoming and

Carson Streets.

Hazleton City Fire trucks blocked the street while mayor Yannuzzi and chief DeAndrea along with officers from HPD and Hazleton city code enforcement boarded up entrances and windows to the Xtacy Hookah Lounge.

The lounge has been operating without a permit for over a month after the permit was revoked at a city council meeting.

Hazleton News 1 has covered many instances recently where the Xtacy Hookah Lounge has been the center of criminal activity. The most recent were Saturday and Sunday morning of this week, where shots were fired in the area of the lounge, each around the time of 5 am.

The lounge is notorious for being open during obscure hours, inviting patrons to bring their own alcohol.

City officials turned off the gas and electricity to the building prior to posting notices of abatement and condemning the building.

Hazleton News 1 has covered the criminal activities surrounding the lounge, and covered the news of the permit being revoked. Many followers expressed anger and concern with the fact that the lounge had continued to run despite not being legally allowed to do so.

Upon learning that the door would be boarded up, Hazleton News 1 shared the news and recieved many comments and messages expressing gratitude that the business was finally being shut down by the city.

Hazleton police officers aided Xtacy owners in removing belongings from the building before closing up the last of the entrances to the building.

The Xtacy Hookah Lounge now sits boarded and condemned, thanks to city officials and area residents who expressed concerns.
