Diamond & Wyoming Shooting Incident


Police recieved a call around 9:30 am for a multiple person fight at the intersection of Diamond Avenue and Wyoming Street in Hazleton.

Initial reports stated possibly hearing gunshots.

HPD quickly arrived on the scene, detaining two individuals.

Luis Rodriguez, 22, was detained at the scene. Rodriguez had a warrant from state probation, with a history of selling heroine. His warrant stated that he had violent tendancies, and to approach with caution.

Juan Serrano, 25, was also detained at the scene. Initial reports stated that Serrano's ID was possibly fake.

A 2005 Subaru was reported to have left the area prior to police arrival.

Officers remained in visual contact with the vehicle until Butler Township police responded to provide backup.

Two individuals were taken into custody from the vehicle in the area of 16th and Vine.

Officers at Wyoming and Diamond had Wyoming Street closed to traffic until they could locate a firearm that had reportedly been thrown or hidden at the scene.

The weapon was found, and no one was reported injured during the incident.
