Drug Task Force Busts Drug Dealer In Freeland

The Luzerne County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 238 Maple Street inf Freeland Friday.

Officers from Freeland, Butler Township, Sugarloaf, and Hazleton City were on scene around 2pm executing a warrant.

Robert P. Demelfi Sr., who resided at the Maple Street home, was taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation for selling narcotics from the address.

Demelfi, who has a history of aggrevated assault, driving with a suspended lisence, DUI with a high level of alcohol, simple assault, and numerous other charges, is also wanted on a warrant in New Jersey.

A sign has been seen on the door to Demelfi's home, which also sports a notice of violation and delapitated exterior, after the incident stating that the home is "Out of business thanks to the police buy your drugs somewhere else".

It is unknown as to who had placed the sign on the door, but Freeland residents have been spreading this picture on social media and appear to be very supportive.
