Man Responsible For Dumping Apologizes

Michael Sabo, the man responsible for dumping trash in Upper Lehigh has contacted Hazleton News 1 to set the record straight.

Sabo admitted that he had dumped the garbage in Foster Township after being paid to dispose of it properly by Robert Torner.

"Unfortunately I needed the extra money and decided to dump the lumber where I had seen a ton of garbage already dumped."

Sabo went on to apologize for the negative light that was shed on Robert Torner initially. Torner had paid Sabo to dispose of waste properly, on one singular event. When local residents had seen the debris in Foster Township, many had made a direct link between the trash and Torner, due to construction waste that was recognizable from a renovation project being done on Torner's property at Center and Front Streets in Freeland.

Sabo admitted to most of the trash that was found, but denied a few particular items, and denied being responsible for the trash that was already previously on site.

Torner, who had initially been accused of the dumping, has apologized to the public for his reactions to the accusations. Admitting that it was upsetting to be confronted by a community that he is glad to be a part of.

Torner has expressed that he is appreciative of the Freeland community, and that he believes that Freeland is on a path toward becoming a thriving area.
