Hickory Run Vandals Caught

On May 18th, Hickory Run State Park had asked the public for help in identifying the people responsible for spraypainting on boulders and thees in Hickory Run's famous Boulder Field.

The vandals had even left the spray paint cans behind at the national attraction after desicrating it.

The DCRN conducted an investigation into the vandalism, which was estimated to cost $5000.

Wal-Mart in East Stroudsburg had supplied information to identify who had purchased the spray paint found at the scene.

Chelsea P. Dunleavy, 20, East Stroudsburghad made the purchase, and was responsible for the initials "CPD", "Chelsea", "Chelsea Dee", and "Chelsea AKA Toothpick" being spraypainted in the national landmark.

A library card belonging to Nicholas T. Marudis, 29, Stroudsburg, was found on the scene. Marudis was responsible for the initials "NTM", and "Nick" which were found scrawled at the family sight-seeing location.

Probably the most upsetting, destructive, and difficult to remove thing that these two did, was paint on the singular tree that grows in the center of the field. If anyone has ever been to Boulder Field, then they know this tree. And these two are responsible for destroying this beautiful landmark.

Both Dunleavy and Marudis were shown on Wal-Mart security footage purchasing the spraypaint on May 13th.

Both are being charged with criminal mischief, and felony and summary counts violation of rules of commonwealth property.
