911 Dispatchers, Rescue Services, Do Not Need To Be Competent

In May, a federal judge ruled “there is no constitutional right, to be provided with competent rescue services”. This was the reason why a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Dzoch family.

On May 15th, 2014, the 911 dispatcher had sent emergency crews to the wrong address. One that didn't exist.

15 miles away, Michelle Dzoch died in a house fire.

This Federal judges ruling has since persuaded a lawyer in a seperate case to stop representing another family in a similar instance.

On thanksgiving. Vincent Mercario had a seizure.

A 911 dispatcher sent an ambulance to the wrong address, taking almost 15 minutes to clear up the mistake and arrive at the correct address.

Mercario was concious and talking for a few minutes after the 911 call was made.

He then lost conciousness, and died an hour later.

Due to a federal judge making it clear that citizens do not have a right to be provided with compitent rescue services, these families are left to wonder "What if?".

Could minutes be the difference between life and death in a house fire?

Could a quarter of an hour effect the outcome of a seizure.

These families will never know.

The dispatchers held responsible have resigned and quit.

But is this justice?

Is the county not responsible or it's employees, or their competence?

Apparently not. They are not required to provide competent rescue services, apparently.
