W. Hazleton Man Has Ear Bitten Off After Choking A Man With His Belt.

Monday, June 1st, around midnight, a drunken West Hazleton man got into an argument with another man in Pantry Quik in West Hazleton. Samuel Baez Jr. had gotten into a conrontation with another male and a female employee had attempted to remove Baez from the store. Baez became physical with the female, and the other male attempted to help her remove Baez from the store. This is where it gets crazy. According to the police report, Baez removed his belt and struck the male customer in the head and chest several times. Then Baez wrapped the belt around the male's neck... At which point, the male grabbed Baez by the head and bit his hear. Bit a chunk clean off of his ear. Like Mike Tyson. When police arrived, they found Baez bleeding profusely from his ear. An officerattempted to render first aid to Baez while another officer approached the employees and the male who had locked themselves inside the store. Baez became agitated, and began screaming profanities and threats while trying to force his way into the store. Baez said he would return to the store and kill people, and that he would "start a war", right before police apprehended him. Baez was charged with Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, and Public Drunkeness. Baez is lodged at the Luzerne County Correstional Facility, where he most likely has the nickname of "Van Gogh" or "Holyfield".
