Hazleton Man Arrested For Rape Of 9 Year Old
Ramon Colon, 55, also known as "Ringle" was arrested Saturday at his home on West Diamond Avenue with a warrant stating that he raped a 9 year old girl and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it. Colon was a frequent visitor to the family home of the victim in the 600 block of Alter Street. The assaults occurred there and at Colon’s residence on West Diamond Avenue, court papers state. Court papers state that the girl was show a knife and Colon had threatened to kill her. Durring assaults at Colon's home, the child stated that she was restrained. On May 11, when the child was showering, her mother discovered what she believed to be evidence of a sexually transmitted disease. At that time, the child told her mother what had occurred, and she notified police. Colon was charged with rape of a child less than 13 years old, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and terroristic threats. He was arraigned Saturday before Magisterial District Judge James Dixon and committed to the Luzerne County prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Colon's yellow shirt in his booking picture signifies that he will be in the Protective Custody, or PC block while in jail. He will spend 23 hours per day locked in a cell with another inmate who cannot safely be in general population.
